Here's all you need to know about our integration with LetsDefend!

Introduction

As you may already know, Hack The Box (HTB) is acquiring LetsDefend.


As part of this integration, login and account management will be handled via your HTB Account going forward. This will streamline your access and make it easier to manage your profile across platforms.

To help you understand what this means for your accounts and your progress, we’ve prepared the FAQ below.


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What does the acquisition mean for my LetsDefend or HTB account?

From now on, you will use only your HTB Account to log in.
Your LetsDefend account will be linked to your HTB account, which simplifies the login process and centralizes your user information.


2. How do I link my LetsDefend account to my HTB account?

This depends on the email addresses you use for each account:

a. If both accounts use the same email address

  1. Go to the LetsDefend login page.

  2. Click “Sign in with Hack The Box”:

Your LetsDefend and HTB accounts will be linked automatically.

b. If the accounts use different email addresses

  1. Log in to your LetsDefend account.

  2. Go to your Profile Settings.

  3. Open the “Link Account” tab.

  4. Click on "Link Hack The Box Account"


3. What happens if I don’t have a LetsDefend account but click “Login with HTB Account”?

If you do not already have a LetsDefend account:

  • Clicking “Login with HTB Account” will create a new LetsDefend user associated with the email address of your HTB Account.

You can then use that account to access LetsDefend.


4. What if I don’t have an HTB account? Can I create one and link it to my existing LetsDefend account?

Yes.

  1. Go to account.hackthebox.com and create a new HTB Account.

  2. Then go back to LetsDefend and use “Login with Hack The Box” or the “Link Account” option in your LetsDefend Profile Settings to link your existing LetsDefend account to your new HTB account.


5. I use Google or LinkedIn SSO to sign in to LetsDefend. Can I log in to HTB the same way?

Yes! You can continue to log in to LetsDefend using Google or LinkedIn SSO as usual.


6. What if I link the wrong account?

Account linking is permanent and cannot be undone from the user's side.

If you accidentally linked the wrong accounts by mistake, please contact our Technical Support team using our chat bubble or by sending an email to [email protected], and we will be more than glad to assist you!


7. A different email address is being displayed on the confirmation page. Why?

This usually means you are logged into the wrong account.

At the confirmation page:

  1. Click “Cancel”.

  2. Log out, then log back in using the account with the correct email address you want to link.

  3. Restart the linking process.


8. Why does my user information look different after linking my accounts?

When you link your accounts, your user information is automatically synced from your HTB Account.

This means that some profile details on LetsDefend (e.g. name, avatar, email) may change to match the information stored in your HTB profile.


9. Why does my username look different after linking accounts?

When you link your HTB and LetsDefend accounts:

  • HTB will automatically update your LetsDefend username.

  • If your existing username is already taken by another user in the unified system, a new random username may be assigned to you.

So, if you see a new username after logging in with your HTB Account, it likely means your old username was already claimed.


10. I can’t update my LetsDefend user information after linking. Why?

Once your LetsDefend and HTB accounts are linked:

  • Your user information becomes managed from your HTB Account.

  • To update your details (name, avatar, email where allowed, etc.), go to your HTB Account settings.

  • Changes made there will be automatically reflected on LetsDefend.


11. I have a VIP/VIP+ subscription on Hack The Box. What does this mean for LetsDefend?

Subscriptions are platform-specific.

This means that, in the same way that your HTB VIP/VIP+ subscription applies only to the Labs Platforms on Hack The Box [app.hackthebox.com] and doesn't extend to the Academy Platform [academy.hackthebox.com], your VIP/VIP+ subscription will also not be transferred to the LetsDefend platform.


12. Can I delete only my LetsDefend account, without deleting my HTB account?

Deleting your HTB Account will also delete your LetsDefend account.

If you only want to delete your LetsDefend account but keep your HTB Account:

  • If you have not linked your LetsDefend account with your HTB Account yet: Yes, you can delete your LetsDefend account.

  • If you have already linked your LetsDefend Account with your HTB Account: It won't be possible to only delete your LetsDefend Account.


13. How can I register for a LetsDefend account?

To register, you can simply follow the steps presented on the LetsDefend Registration Page:

  1. If you don’t have one yet, create an HTB Account at
    https://account.hackthebox.com.

  2. After that, on LetsDefend, click “Login with Hack The Box”.

A new LetsDefend user will be created and linked to your HTB Account.


14. What happens to my progress after the integration? Will I lose anything?

Don't worry! You will not lose any of your progress.

All of the following on LetsDefend will be preserved:

  • Streak points

  • Scores

  • Certificates

  • Badges

These will remain associated with your account after the integration.
