Redeeming a Gift Card or Voucher on HTB Labs

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to properly identify and redeem your gift card or voucher on the Hack The Box platform

Vouchers vs Gift Cards

It is important to know the difference between Vouchers and Gift Cards, as they have different redemption processes. You cannot redeem a gift card in the 'Redeem Voucher' field.

  1. Vouchers: These are specific codes redeemed for a certain subscription or service, such as a Monthly or Annual HTB VIP+ Subscription. Vouchers are generated by the Hack The Box staff and cannot be directly purchased. You can acquire a voucher directly from Hack The Box or by winning a giveaway or contest. They look like long strings of text and numbers, such as: htblovesu1333337-7h1515n07ar34lv0uch3r-d0ntb07h3r.

  2. Gift Cards: These act as store credit and can be purchased for yourself or for someone else. They are used to reduce or completely eliminate the cost of a subscription. They look like a short string of capital letters and numbers, such as: SQ42N0TR341Y1AXZ.

Redeeming a Gift Card

A Gift Card for HTB Labs is redeemed during the check-out process. Follow these steps to apply your gift card:

  1. Navigate to your Billing & Plans page by clicking on your Avatar/Username on the top-right-hand side of your Dashboard on app.hackthebox.com.

  2. Click on any of the Upgrade buttons on the page:

  3. Select the subscription service of your choice to begin the checkout process.

  4. Fill in your required personal information on the first page.

  5. Click the Continue button to proceed to the payment step.

  6. Enter your code into the Gift Card Code field on the checkout page and click Apply to receive your final discount.

Important Notes for Gift Cards:

  • You cannot apply a Gift Card code if you already have an active subscription of the exact same type. You must wait until your current subscription expires before you can re-subscribe using the new gift card.

  • Once a Gift Card is redeemed, any leftover balance will be applied directly to your account as HTB Credits.

  • Any future purchases on your account will automatically subtract from your existing HTB Credits first before charging your primary payment method.

Redeeming a Voucher

Redeeming a voucher uses a different menu than a gift card. To redeem a voucher, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Billing & Plans section on the platform.

  2. Click the Redeem Voucher button.

  3. Enter your voucher code to activate your specific subscription or service.

Validity

Generally speaking, both Vouchers and Gift Cards for the various Hack The Box platforms have a valid usage period of exactly 12 months.

After 12 months, starting exactly at the time of purchase, the code will expire and will no longer be usable. For example, if a gift card is purchased on January 1, 2026, it will expire and become completely invalid on January 1, 2027.

This 12-month expiration rule applies to Vouchers for the HTB Labs platform, as well as Exam Vouchers on the HTB Academy platform.
