Hack The Box XP System Overview
The Hack The Box XP System provides a unified progression experience across the entire platform. Users earn XP by completing eligible content, which contributes to their overall level, Rank, and title. Earning XP allows you to track your progress as you improve your skills. Additionally, Weekly Streaks reward consistent engagement by encouraging you to return each week and maintain your hacking progress.
Leveling System and Titles
Your level increases as you accumulate XP. The XP required to reach the next level scales exponentially, meaning each new level requires more XP than the previous one. There is no level cap, allowing for continuous progression.
Your title reflects your overall experience level and is displayed on your profile card. Your title is made up of two parts:
Rank: Progresses in this order: Beginner → Apprentice → Skilled → Professional → Master → Prodigy → Grandmaster.
Grade: Progresses from I to III (I, II, III).
As you level up, both your Rank and Grade evolve to represent your progression. Your Rank increases every 15 levels. Within each Rank, you progress through three Grades (I -> III). For example, your profile card might display your Rank as "Prodigy", your Grade as "III", and your level as "Lvl 89".
How You Earn XP
Your XP progression is platform-agnostic, meaning it is not tied to a specific platform. You earn XP whenever you complete eligible content, regardless of whether you access it through Labs, Academy, or the Enterprise Platform. Any content included in the XP Catalogue grants XP upon completion, including exclusive or platform-specific content.
The XP Catalogue and Active Content Multiplier
The XP Catalogue defines exactly how much XP is awarded for completing each content type across the platform, including:

If you complete content that is still considered "active" (recently released), you automatically receive a 1.3x XP multiplier. This multiplier rewards users for completing newer or more challenging material.

Weekly Streaks
Weekly Streaks track your weekly activity and reward you for consistency.
A streak increases when you earn at least 200 XP within a single calendar week.
The week runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to Sunday 23:59 UTC
If you do not reach 200 XP in a given week, your streak resets to 0. You only lose your streak count; you do not lose your accumulated XP or your current level.
How to Use Streak Savers
To help maintain your streak, you can use Streak Savers. A Streak Saver prevents your Weekly Streaks from resetting to 0 if you miss a week.
You can hold a maximum of 3 Streak Savers at any given time.
You automatically receive Streak Savers based on your active subscription plan.
You earn a free Streak Saver every time your streak hits a multiple of 10 (such as a 10-week streak, 20-week streak, 30-week streak, and so on).
Subscription Streak Savers
Streak Savers are exclusively available to active subscribers. Below is a list of subscription types that grant Streak Savers:
HTB VIP+ / HTB PRO (Hack The Box Labs)
Monthly HTB VIP+ or HTB PRO Subscriptions: You receive 1 Streak Saver when your subscription starts, and 1 Streak Saver on each successful monthly renewal.
Annual HTB VIP+ or HTB PRO Subscriptions: You receive 1 Streak Saver per calendar month. For example, if you start your annual HTB VIP+ or HTB PRO subscription on June 22, 2026, you receive your first Streak Saver that same day. You will then receive your next Streak Saver on July 22, 2026, and on the 22nd of each following month.
HTB Academy Annual
Only users with an annual HTB Academy Annual subscription receive Streak Savers. Monthly subscribers do not receive them.
New annual subscribers receive 1 Streak Saver immediately upon subscribing.
You are granted 1 Streak Saver each subscription month, provided you currently hold fewer than 3 Streak Savers.
HTB Enterprise
Starting balance: Users begin with 1 Streak Saver upon joining the organisation.
Monthly top-up: 1 Streak Saver is awarded each month, as long as the user currently holds fewer than 3.
Cap and floor: The maximum number of Streak Savers a user can hold is 3; the minimum is 1.
