To acquire your first weekly streak, you will need to achieve 200XP, either by completing content on our Labs Platform [app.hackthebox.com] or by completing Paths, Sections, and answering questions on the Academy Platform [academy.hackthebox.com].

To successfully build your first weekly streak, you must hit a target threshold of 200 XP within a single week. You can fulfill this cross-platform tracking requirement through either of the following methods:

Note on Value Scaling: The exact amount of XP granted for a task scales dynamically based on the technical difficulty rating of the underlying module.

To help illustrate this concept, here's a comparison of an Easy difficulty module that gives you 30XP per question answered, and 15XP by section finished; and a different, Medium difficulty module, that gives you 40XP per question answered, and 20XP per section finished:

Once you reach 200XP, either by completing flag submissions for machines on the Labs Platform [app.hackthebox.com] or by Finishing Paths, Sections, or Answering Questions on the Academy Platform [academy.hackthebox.com], you will get your first Weekly Streak, and the streak counter is incremented by 1.

To maintain an active Weekly Streak, you must accumulate a minimum of 200 XP during each tracking period. If you successfully meet or exceed this target threshold in consecutive weeks, your global counter increments sequentially from 2 to 3, and continues moving upward.

Careful, though! If you fail to gain the 200XP points in a week, your streak will be reset to 0:

All platform metrics and weekly target tracking values are reset systematically every single week. The cutoff point is fixed globally at Monday at 00:00 UTC. To prevent a streak reset, users must submit their final flags or clear module validation steps before this time block closes.

The platform features an automated milestone reward system to recognize long-term consistency. Users unlock profile achievements and custom badges for maintaining specific multi-week milestones. These active achievements are showcased publicly on your centralized user profile.

A Streak Saver is an automated fallback token that prevents your total progress counter from dropping back to 0 if you miss a weekly training window.

These protections apply directly to our subscribers. Users holding an active HTB Labs VIP+ membership or a Hack The Box Annual subscription plan automatically accumulate one streak save slot per month, up to a maximum storage cap of three total saves.

If your account fails to register 200 XP before the Monday deadline, the system automatically checks your balance. If a token is available, the platform applies it to protect your streak balance. This protection remains active indefinitely as long as your subscription is active.

To monitor your current protection balance, navigate to the Weekly Streak panel on your account dashboard. Your active tokens are represented by highlighted green indicator icons located in the Streak Saver section directly below your numerical counter.

Users can earn bonus protection items through active study. The platform awards a free Streak Saver item every time your active week counter reaches a clean multiple of 10 (such as 10, 20, 30, or more consecutive weeks).
