Activating the Student Plan for Students with University/Institute Domains

To qualify for the discounted student pricing on Hack The Box (HTB), you do not need to create a new platform account. Instead, you must link your official student email address to your existing account profile. If your academic institution's domain is already registered and verified in our database, the student plan option will become available to you instantly.

To configure your academic email address and activate the student plan, follow this method:

Add your official institutional email address to your profile as a verified secondary email address.
Navigate to the Plans and Subscription page on HTB Academy.
Under the Monthly tab, select the Student Plan option, which will be fully clickable and unlocked.

If not, you have to open a ticket with support to validate your domain.

Requesting Domain Validation via Support

If your academic institution is not currently registered in our database, the Student Plan option on your subscription page will remain locked and greyed out.

To fix this, you must request that our support team manually validate your domain.

To submit a domain validation request, navigate your browser to our support center and complete these sequential actions:

Locate the support widget on the platform and click on Send us a message button.
Select Student Subscription from the suggested inquiry options to review the necessary onboarding guidelines.
Click the Student plan is greyed out prompt to open an official support ticket if the option remains greyed out after reviewing the instructions.

Required Information for Domain Verification

In the ticket, you will need to provide:

The name of the institution
Your educational email address
The website of the institution
The country of the institution

After that, the support team will take care of validating the domain after checking the information given.

Note: Your student email address must be present as a primary or secondary email address on the HTB Account. Ideally, your student email should be added as a secondary email.

This is to prevent losing access to your HTB Account once you graduate or leave the educational instituition.

Activating the Student Plan for Students with No Academic Email

If you are a student, but your institution does not provide you with an academic email address, your eligibility will need to be manually confirmed by our support team.

To verify your student status without an academic email address, you must open a ticket with our support team and provide valid proof of your current enrollment.

To initiate a manual verification request, follow these explicit steps:

Locate the support widget on the platform interface and click the Send us a message button.
Select Student Subscription from the main list of inquiry categories.
Select the option labeled I do not have an academic email from the follow-up choices to review the documentation guidelines.

Required Information for Manual Student Plan Verification

Within the new ticket, you will have to provide the following information:

Proof of Enrollment
The name of the institution
The website of the institution
The country of the institution

Acceptable Proof of Enrollment

When submitting your manual validation ticket, you must provide at least one of the following official documents:

A valid, current student identification card showing an explicit expiration date or the current academic year.
An official registration receipt or tuition payment statement for the active term.
A signed enrollment letter on official institutional letterhead from your school's registrar or administration office

The support team will verify your enrollment and give you access to the student plan.

Getting the Student Subscription

After you have gone through the process above and have either:

Added a student email to your account that matches our records and verified it
Had your university domain added to HTB's database
Proved your student status in another way

Accessing the Student Subscription Plan

Once your academic status is verified, you will be able to then subscribe to the Student Subscription. For that, we have listed all the four ways you can reach the Student Subscription option.

Method 1: The Quick Upgrade Link

You can quickly purchase the subscription directly from your learning dashboard view. Follow these steps to find the checkout panel:

Locate the main global header at the top right of your screen and click the green Upgrade button positioned right next to your Academy Avatar.
On the checkout screen, click the Toggle Switch to set your plan selection interval to Monthly.
Look under the section labeled Instant Access, where the Student subscription tier will now be fully visible and selectable.

Method 2: The Manage Account Pathway

If you are currently looking at your Academy Dashboard, you can transition directly to the subscription panel by executing the following steps:

Click directly on your Academy Avatar image in the top right-hand corner of the page.
From the drop-down menu that appears, click on the text corresponding to your current active subscription level, located right under the Manage HTB Account header.
Locate the billing type option on the screen and click the Toggle Switch to choose the Monthly subscription view.
Look under the section labeled Instant Access, where the Student subscription tier will now be fully visible and selectable.

Method 3: The Plans and Subscription Sub-Menu

You can navigate into the billing environment from your global profile settings tree. Complete the following directional path:

Click directly on your Academy Avatar in the top right corner of the website navbar view.
Under the Payment & Referrals menu option, click on the Plans and Subscriptions option.
Locate the billing type option on the screen and click the Toggle Switch to choose the Monthly subscription view.
Look under the section labeled Instant Access, where the Student subscription tier will now be fully visible and selectable.

Method 4: Direct Billing URL Navigation

If you want to skip manual navigation completely, you can utilize direct URL routing to load the subscription panel instantly:

Enter or click on the direct link path to navigate straight to the billing page.
Once the page renders completely, locate the main interactive switch button and click the Toggle Switch to set the page display view to Monthly.
Look under the section labeled Instant Access, where the Student subscription tier will now be fully visible and selectable.
